Summer is on its way! But is your swimming pool ready for it? If not, now is the time to clean and maintain it so you can make the most of it in when the sun comes out.
As you know, regular maintenance means a long life, so we recommend cleaning and repainting twice a year around the beginning and end of when it gets most used. For example, at the beginning of spring (before use) and in the autumn (end of season).
Here at Omar Coatings we want to give you some tips and some steps to take to make sure your swimming pool paint goes on perfectly and lasts longer.
Firstly, to ensure the varnish to goes on correctly, the painting surface must be completely clean, dry and free from dust and grease. For that to happen, clean the surface thoroughly using products that are made for this purpose and sand the whole area to ensure the product adheres to it properly.
Aside from that, take into account the weather conditions, as it is not a good idea to paint if it is either very warm or raining heavily.
In terms of tools to use for varnishing swimming pools, you will need small brushes and brushes of different sizes for the different areas where the product will be applied.
Once the surface is ready, it is time to apply the varnish. For the interior, we suggest our excellent varnish, GELCOAT ISO NPG AZUL PISCINAS. It has high thixotropy, great resistance to the outdoors and to hydrolysis, and it is available in any RAL, NCS-2 or custom colour.
And for the outside of the pool, our product OMARCRIL ADB M05 PISCINAS is perfect for the edges whether they are made from stone, cement or wood. This is a strong non-slip finish for outdoor flooring and swimming pools that can also be used as a finish for bathtubs, sinks and shower trays. Its properties include high extensibility and strength, plus a UV filter for sun protection. On the product card, we have included information on the quantity and type of solvent and hardener that should be used in each scenario.
Another of our star products for this time of year is the HIDROMAR EXT OIL TARIMA, specially created for the edges of swimming pools and outdoor walkways. This varnish permeates, nourishes and protects the wood, it has good elasticity and is resistant to wear. You can also add Converter / Hidrocrom TR pastes to it to get different colours.
Normally hardwoods are used for their durability and low water absorption. Selecting this type of wood affects the varnishing process because it is difficult to permeate, so the choice of product type is crucial in ensuring good penetration into the wood.
